Welcome to seku wote campus library

Wote Campus is located in Makueni County about 2.8 kms from Wote town and 1.3 kms from the county headquarters along Wote-Malivani Road next to the Makueni County Governor’s Residence. The Campus Library is on the second floor in the main building, next to computer laboratory. Library users have access to over one million e-books and e-journals and over 3000 volumes of book titles.

LIBRARY COLLECTION

To enable users access our collection with reasonable ease, the collection has been divided as follows:

SHORT LOAN COLLECTION: Books on high demand can be borrowed and read within the library for a period of three hours maximum. If a user overstays with a book from this section, overdue charges apply as stipulated in the library rules and regulations.
GENERAL COLLECTION: This section holds the bulk of our information materials. In this section, students are allowed to borrow books for a maximum period of two weeks for undergraduates and four weeks (one month) for postgraduates.
REFERENCE COLLECTION: The Library has a wide range of reference resources like dictionaries, handbooks and encyclopedia etc. These reference materials have limited access as one can only use them within the Library.

Welcome to seku Kitui campus library

Kitui campus is located in Kitui Town, within the Manyenyoni-BLI area, about 600 metres off the Kitui-Mutomo road. The campus library is situated on the ground floor of the main building. Membership is open to SEKU bonafide members on provision of university’s ID. SEKU alumni are also welcome to use the library.

Information resources

The library has over 3600 volumes and 2300 titles of books, thesis and dissertations.
Subscribed to numerous databases with e-journals and e-books that have current and unlimited information.
There is an institutional repository that provides users access to archived scholarly publications created by the university staff and students.

Information literacy

Training is conducted to library users on library services, procedures and resources. Topics covered in the training sessions include: access to e-resources, institutional repository, catalogue, citation tools, among others.
Training is carried out to new students/staff or on client request where patrons book for a session.

LIBRARY COLLECTION

The collection is divided into;

General collection
This collection is located at the open shelves. Information materials in this area areborrowed out of the library on long loan depending on the category of library users.

Short loan collection
The collection is located at the circulation desk and has information materials in high demand but in few copies. Lending in this section is on short loan basis (three hours) and materials are used within the library only. The materials in this section include short loan books, thesis and dissertations, research project proposals and CD-ROMs.

Reference collection

The collection is located at the open shelves. Materials are used only in the library and cannot be borrowed. The materials includes; dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps, atlases,bibliographies and other reference materials

Organization and access to information resources

  • The library collection is organized based on Library of Congress classification scheme.
  • A library Management System (KOHA) is in place
  • MyLOFT facilitates access to e-resources off campus

Library book loan
There are two types of library loan for print materials; the long loan and the short loan. The duration for each type depend on the category of the library users and the level of demand for specific books.

Issuing, returning and renewal of library materials is carried out at the circulation desk where one must be a registered library user. Library registration in done on provision of University ID.

Mtito-Andei campus library is located along Nairobi- Mombasa highway 5 Kilometers before the historical Mtito – Andei town. Our main objective is to provide quality and innovative services that meet the information needs of our library users.

LIBRARY COLLECTION

Information resources in the library have been arranged according to Library of Congress classification scheme which organizes information resources based on their main subject to facilitate easy access and retrieval by the library users.

The library collection is divided into the following sections:-

  1. General Collection: This section holds most library materials from all subject strength and disciplines which can be borrowed for long loan depending on the category of library users.
  2. Short Loan Section: This is a section within the Circulation desk which reserve books that are on high demand and few copies available.
  3. Reference Section: This is a section for dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanac, yearbooks and other reference materials; they are used only in the library.
  4. Current Awareness Section: This is a section adjacent to the circulation desk. Its main purpose is to display newly acquired books for a specified period of time.
