How do I clear from the library?

Present your clearance form and University Identification card to the librarian at the issue desk.

What other services/products can I expect from the library?

The Library offers various products and  services including print books, E-resources (e-journals and e-books), digital library, digital archiving, newspapers, past exam papers, thesis and dissertations and projects, reference services; circulation service; current awareness service; user education service; information literacy training among other information related services.

How can I access e-resources when off-campus?

Login to off-campus access platform using the link https://ezproxy.seku.ac.ke Login credentials i.e. user name and password are issued by the librarian.

How do I return Library materials?

All borrowed library items are returned at the issue desk for discharging/checking in.

Can I borrow a book from another campus library?

Yes. You will need to produce your student/staff identification for the librarian to confirm you are a registered user and verify you are eligible to borrow. Borrowed items should be returned to their respective campus.

What should I do when a library material is damaged or lost?

Report the incident to the Librarian immediately for advice on payment or replacement.

Can I borrow a book if I have an overdue item/fine?

Users must first return all overdue items and clear all outstanding fines before borrowing or renewing any library book.

How much fine is charged for overdue books?

Long Loan books will each attract an overdue fine of Ksh. 10.00 per day while Short Loan will each attracts a fine of Ksh. 10.00 per hour.

What if I overstay with a borrowed item?

A fine will be charged for every library material returned after the due date.

How do I extend/ renew the loan period of Library material?

Present the material and your ID to the library staff at issue desk.

How many times can I renew a book?

A borrowed library book may be renewed once only. Short loan materials are not renewed.

When I borrow a book, for how long can I stay with it?

The duration is dependent on user category i.e. for long loan items, its two(2) week for undergraduate students and nonteaching staff; four (4) weeks for postgraduate students and teaching staff and three(3) hours for short loan items across all user categories.

Can I borrow books using another user's ID?

No. It is prohibited to use someone else identification card.

What is the procedure of borrowing a book from the library?

Present the library book you wish to borrow and your University Identification card at the library circulation desk.

How do I search for books in the library?

You can search for books from our library catalogue through opac.seku.ac.ke Type in the Keyword (title, Author or Subject) of the book you're looking for and check its location, call number, and availability status.

What is a short loan material?

These are scarce and on high demand information materials/books that are borrowed and returned within a short period of time. Usually after three (3) hours.

What should I do if I’ve lost my student/staff ID card?

Report immediately to the relevant department and apply for a new one.
Please note that you cannot be issued with a library item without a valid university identification card.

Who are eligible members of the Library?

A member of the University community; a student, staff, council members and registered alumni members.

How do I register as a library user?

Visit the library and present your University Identification card to the librarian at the circulation section.
